2022 – 2026 Achievements
Delivering Results for Whitby
During this term of Council, Whitby has made important progress on the issues that matter most to residents. I am proud to have worked alongside my Council colleagues, Town staff, and our community to help deliver these results.
Advancing Healthcare Close to Home — A New Hospital for Whitby
One of the most significant achievements for Whitby was advancing the vision of a new hospital to serve our growing community. Council worked with provincial and healthcare partners to help move this important project forward, ensuring future generations of residents have better access to healthcare closer to home.
Supporting Safer Neighbourhoods and Stronger Community Safety
Council has remained focused on the issues that help residents feel safe and confident in their community. Through investments in road safety, traffic calming, emergency services, by-law enforcement and community infrastructure, Whitby continues to take a proactive approach to creating safer neighbourhoods.
Responsible Financial Management While Investing in Our Future
During a period of rising costs, inflation and increasing demands on municipal services, Council remained focused on balancing affordability with the investments needed to support a growing community. Through responsible budgeting, identifying efficiencies, and securing external funding opportunities, Whitby continued to deliver important services while respecting taxpayers.
Planning for Growth While Protecting Quality of Life
Whitby continues to be one of Ontario’s fastest-growing communities. Council worked to ensure growth is managed responsibly by planning for new housing, infrastructure, transportation needs, and complete communities while protecting the qualities that make Whitby a great place to live.
Investing in Infrastructure and Community Facilities
Council continued investing in the infrastructure residents depend on every day, including roads, sidewalks, parks, recreation facilities, and municipal services. These investments help address today’s needs while preparing Whitby for the future. The Community Strategic Plan identified infrastructure, recreation, safety, and community amenities as key priorities for action.
Building a More Transparent and Accessible Local Government
Council worked to improve how residents engage with their municipal government by strengthening transparency, communication, and public participation. A strong local democracy depends on residents understanding how decisions are made and having meaningful opportunities to participate.
Creating a Long-Term Vision Through the Community Strategic Plan
Council adopted Whitby’s first comprehensive Community Strategic Plan in more than two decades, built around extensive resident engagement which received thousands of responses. The plan identified 62 measurable actions focused on neighbourhoods, economic prosperity, environmental sustainability, and responsible government, providing a roadmap for Whitby’s future.
