Municipal government is the level of government closest to your everyday life. While federal and provincial governments make decisions on issues like income taxes, health care, education, immigration, and criminal law, your Town Council is responsible for the services and infrastructure that shape daily life here in Whitby.
As your Town Councillor, my role is to represent the interests of residents, listen to your concerns, help solve local issues, and make decisions that support a safe, vibrant, and financially responsible community. Every decision made by Council is guided by what is best for Whitby today and for future generations. Under Ontario’s Municipal Act, Council represents the public, establishes policies, determines municipal services, and maintains the Town’s financial integrity.

Role of the Local Councillor
A Town Councillor’s work extends far beyond attending Council meetings. Throughout the year, councillors:
- Meet with residents to discuss neighbourhood concerns.
- Review hundreds of pages of reports before Council meetings.
- Participate on committees and local boards.
- Work with Town staff to resolve constituent issues.
- Meet with developers, businesses, community organizations, and residents.
- Attend community events and local celebrations.
- Help shape policies that guide Whitby’s future.
